Night jazz in Bryggestua
Vestfold Festspillene in collaboration with Horten Jazz Club invites again to night jazz in Horten next Friday and Saturday.
After the opening and fireworks at Vollen on Friday 30 June, the 'fireworks' continue at Bryggestua with the Danish brass group WonderBrass. The group has its roots in New Orleans, and represents a musical link between Dr. John and the Dirty Dozen Brassband. WonderBrass is raw and funky when they combine tradition and new music forms such as rap and hip hop. It's night jazz and it's midnight. But no matter how tired you may be, your legs are guaranteed not to stand still. Everything is ready for a party night of the rare with Danish pondus, joy of playing and enthusiasm as well as matching serving!
On Saturday 1 July, there will be a concert with Silje Nergaard.
Silje Nergaard already made her debut as a 16-year-old in 1982 [Note: actually it was in 1983] at the Jazz Festival in Molde. Since then, she has played many strings, and she never ceases to amaze. The music critics' superlatives stood in line after her latest CD, ''Port of Call'', March 2000. '' .... sensually expressive and with a subtle phrasing that few jazz singers do after her here at home '' [newspaper] VG , dice roll 5. '' Magnificent Silje '', [newspaper] Dagbladet, dice roll 5. She comes to Horten with the improvisers Carstensen and Strønen. Look forward! Night jazz in the true sense of the word.
Brass: The Danish brass group WonderBrass strikes in Bryggestua.
