Pictures concert Amsterdam 2007
Paradiso, May 19. 2007
To the first serie from this concert.
The quality of these pictures I made myself is not so good, but around them some info about the concert.
Above a typical gesture of Silje moving her arm along with the pitch.
As in January last year Silje was doing a concert in Paradiso. The day before the Band
was at the new The Hague Jazz Festival.
All pictures at this page are made by Herman de Wit.
Silje played with the regular Band this
evening: Silje (vocals/fender rhodes),
Helge Lien (piano/fender rhodes), Finn Guttormsen (bass/dobro guitar),
Jarle Vespestad (drums) and Bjørn Charles Dreyer (guitar/pedal steel)
Because of the new album Silje did several
songs that can be heard on this disc, but also
from earlier work she did some songs. One of them was Ruby (Hjemmefra), the Norwegian
equivalent of an earlier song called Move Along, Ruby (Tell Me Where You're
Going).
The intro of the song Tell Me Where You're
Going was clearly different
from others: the Band started
as a ukulele quartet,
a homage to a Norwegian tradition. One by one they changed the ukelele into their own
insturment.
That's right, Bjørn Charles Dreyer also is playing the guitar ...
The variation in stage backgrounds was striking this concert.
In the extra Silje filmed the audience that was
singing
a Dutch birthday song for Silje's daughter Erle.
The day before, Silje had to leave to The Hague, it was her daughter's tenth
birthday.
Fans in the Netherlands have to wait till October to see Silje again in one of
the four concerts she is doing than.
