Silje in the Tokio Hot 100 Chart
Working mainly from London, the succes in the UK was not as well as hoped for. In the UK charts the highest position was at rank 55 with the song Tell Me Where You're Going in 1991. In Japan her songs were more successful. Soon after some releases in Japan Silje had significant airplay. Altough it is unknown how many records were sold in Japan, the Tokio Hot 100 is a good indicator to get an impression about airplay, because this chart represents the airplay at the popular radio station J-Wave in Tokyo.
Below the ranking of the singles from this chart (1990-1993). In September and October 1990 the single Tell Me Where You're Going was a hit in this chart: For six weeks on row the song was in the Top-10. All together the single was in the chart for 14 weeks in row that year, leading to the position 26 at the annual 1990 chart. The single came back for one week five months later, probably this was the Japanese version of Tell Me Where You're Going that just was released at the single Welcome To Another Day. By the way: That same day, April 28. 1991, three Silje songs were in this chart at the same time, ranking at positions 27, 52 and 87. After the succes in 1990 and 1991 Silje didn't return in this chart in 1992 and 1993, altough some singles and one album were released in these years.
Silje did concerts in Japan in the autumn of 1990 and in April and November 1991. The first two tours do relate to this J-Wave chart.
