She has 15 album releases behind her over a career of over 30 years. She started her musical career during the Molde Jazz Festival when, as a 16-year-old, she entered the stage during a jam session with Jaco Pastorius. Among the audience was the respected music journalist Randi Hultin, and the next day Dagbladet presented Norway's new jazz hope, unfolded over two full pages. The debut single "Tell Me Where You're Going", with the world-famous guitarist Pat Metheny, was released in 1990 and became an international success with, among other things, first place on the hit list in Japan (where they even named a wine after her!) . The album ''At First Light'' (2001) is still the best-selling Norwegian jazz album of all time with over 140,000 copies sold and a full 17 weeks on the (newspaper) VG list. "Be Still My Heart" became Silje's signature song and made her really famous on the international jazz scene. In 2008, Silje recorded the album "A Thousand True Stories" together with Dutch The Metropole Orchestra, arranged and conducted by Grammy-winning composer Vince Mendoza. The album was Grammy nominated in the United States. Silje has been a pioneer on the international jazz scene and has created her completely personal expression both as a singer and composer. With her respected name, she has toured the world and sung her songs with artists such as Al Jarreau, Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Kurt Elling and Norwegian Morten Harket. She has participated in countless recordings with legends such as Toots Thielmans. Manhattan Transfer is one of the bands that have done cover versions of Silje's songs. Silje composes music and tours regularly both at home and abroad, of which her largest market is Germany. Her latest album ''HOUSES'' was released in 2021, and was recorded during the lockdown period with contributions from musicians and artists from around the world. In 2020, Silje Nergaard celebrated her 30th anniversary as an artist and received the State's ten-year artist scholarship the same year. ETT FETT BIG BAND has been the leading big band in Nedre Romerike since 1988, and is characterized by versatility and professionalism. The band has worked with countless musicians, conductors and artists, and has been able to offer the audience many and varied music experiences over the years. Some of the country's foremost musicians, in collaboration with young music students and talented amateurs, make up the 17-member ensemble Ett Fett Big Band.
