''Blue Girls'' in town

On Wednesday night, the duo ''Blue Girls'' will play at Sting in Stavanger. The girl duo comes straight from the jazz festival in Molde where the two had success at Naustet.

Blue Girls is a musical project that Kristin Berglund and Silje Nergaard started in the late autumn of 1985. The starting point for the duo was a performance together during the TV broadcast: Rock on The Dock, the Live Aid concert at Aker Brygge, last autumn.

Kristin Berglund is from Asker, Silje Nergaard, originally from Hamar, but now lives in Oslo.

Behind the name Blue Girls hides a varied musical content. The name may indicate many blue tones, but there are also other colors and moods in the music they present. Silje has roots in jazz-inspired music, and Kristin in American Folk and Blues. They have taken material from older and more recent dates in American music. Memphis Minnie, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega to name a few, in addition to the duo's self-written songs. Kristin plays guitar and Silje plays synth.

Kristin Berglund's name became known already during the Haugesund Festival in the early 70's, via radio and TV appearances, tours and recordings. Kristin has, in addition to the song, a reputation for being a skilled guitarist.

Even though she is only 20 years old, Silje Nergaard has already made a name for herself as a talented vocalist and composer. She has also appeared in several radio and television programs. Silje also has her own band, "Mellow Yellow". Silje has written the material for the LP the band is currently working on.

Kristin Berglund is also currently working on a new LP project. She has written all the material herself.

Together with blues guitarist Knut Reiersrud, Blue Girls play at Naustet Vårt during the Molde Festival this year, and in mid-August it is Northern Norway's turn.
